Book Summary:

Sometimes, you need a demon to fight demons. Lincoln Marshall is a small-town deputy with a very big problem. Six members of his church have been found dead, killed by a rogue werewolf. He’ll have to make a deal with the Devil to save victims that have gone missing — maybe literally. Elise Kavanagh, preternatural investigator and exorcist, is the expert when it comes to violent deaths at the jaws of evil. She’s also among the most powerful demons that Hell has spawned. Elise jumps at Lincoln’s case, and it’s not just because of his down-home charm. Someone’s laid a trap for her in Northgate, and she wants to find out who. She’ll have to team up with Rylie Gresham, Alpha of the last surviving werewolf pack, to figure out who’s trying to blame the murders on werewolves. Only together can they stop the killings — and uncover the secrets buried in Northgate. keywords: demons, angels, urban fantasy novel, occult supernatural, supernatural suspense, paranormal romance, dark fantasy, exorcism exorcist, werewolves, werewolf pack

Book Summary:

"The author of Hebrews is arguing that God himself has brought about the fulfillment of these institutions through his Son's priesthood, his once-for-all sacrifice, and the new covenant he inaugurated in the last days. These new institutions are never denied the Jews. In fact, the context of the epistle presumes that these are primarily for the Jews, considering that the author was speaking to a Jewish-Christian community. The author is not arguing for the abandonment by God of the Jewish people, but rather for the abandonment of the shadowy means by which God's people drew near to him. It is here we can speak of a qualified supersessionism. According to the author of Hebrews, the Levitical priesthood, the Mosaic covenant, and the Levitical sacrifices have been superseded by Jesus' priesthood, the new covenant, and Jesus' once-for-all sacrifice. "However, we conclude that the polemical passages in Hebrews do not promote hatred of the Jews, nor do they advocate the destruction of the Jewish people. Rather, the author of Hebrews stresses the fulfillment of specific Jewish institutions for the benefit of the Jews. It is this idea of fulfillment that rules out the charge that the epistle promotes the supercession of the Jewish people. Because of God's great love for his people, he has provided a superior way by which his people can draw near to him." --from the Conclusion

The Story of Taj Mahal

Book Summary:

Last year Chowksey wrote Mahatma Gandhi and Cinema, now his fictional account of how the TAJ was created is being published. It is a historical fact that the Moghuls brought with them the Persian culture when they came to India. At that time Indian culture was a bit worn-out because of continuous foreign attacks for centuries. Moghuls were different from other invaders in the sense that they wanted to settle down here and the founder of the Moghul Empire Babur made it clear before entering Agra that the soldiers should not indulge in any atrocities. Chowksey’s Aurangzeb disapproved the wave of romanticism unleashed by Shahjahan and restored discipline and values in the life of the nation. He did not approve of huge sums of money being spent on the creation of the TAJ. However, this book has interesting character sketches and excellent dramatic scenes. A couple of years ago the TAJ MAHAL was voted as the number one wonder of the worldby an international survey. It has withstood the test of time and its classic beauty is of universal appeal therefore the story of its creation is worth reading. My friend Chowksey has done justice to the great subject. It is an ode to the synthesis of two great cultures. —Salim Khan

Justification

  • Publisher : A&C Black
  • Isbn : 056717610X
  • Pages : 328
  • Category : Religion
  • Reads : 835
  • File Pdf: justification.pdf

Book Summary:

This significant work, precipitated by the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Joint Declaration on the doctrine of justification, represents Eberhard Jüngel's most sustained theological writing for some time. Jüngel examines the role of justification in Christian faith - and emphasises its central importance. He traces the history of the concept of 'justice' in Greek thought, and of the Old Testament parallel concept 'righteousness'. He then moves on to a consideration of the righteousness of God in its Christian context, and in particular to God's righteousness in Christ. A major contribution to theological discussion is found in his fresh and fearless treatment of the unfashionable topic of sin. Throughout the work, Jüngel constantly interacts with the great Catholic and Protestant thinkers, his skill as a theologian matched by his insight as a philosopher.
